Exploring Skiathos through the eyes of Konstantinos N. Kantarakias

Kostas Kantarakias painting

If you’ve spent some time in our reception at Aphrodite Skiathos you might have noticed the collection of landscapes hanging on the walls. These 11 paintings are the work of Konstantinos Nikolaou Kantarakias, a local painter who spent his life capturing the changing face of Skiathos.

Konstantinos was a man of many talents. While he had a successful career as a Director at the National Bank of Greece, he never stopped studying art. His work is a reflection of the island’s history and the wisdom of its great writers. In his retirement, he dedicated every day to painting the shipyards, the hidden corners of the town, and the tranquil coastlines that make our island special.

This exhibition is now a permanent part of our guesthouse, curated by Nikos K. Kantarakias and Ellas Tsentiloglou. It’s our way of keeping his legacy and his love for Skiathos alive.

We invite you to stop by, have a look, and experience the island through his eyes.
