What’s the Water Temperature in Skiathos by Month? 🌊☀️

Skiathos water temperature

Planning your getaway to Aphrodite Skiathos? Since we are located right on the sands of Megali Ammos, the most common question we get is: “Is the water warm enough to swim yet?”

The short answer? Yes! But depending on when you visit, the Aegean offers a different “vibe.” Whether you like a refreshing wake-up call or “bathwater” warmth, here is what to expect from May through September.

May is one of our favorite months. The water starts to climb toward 19°C–20°C (66°F–68°F). It’s refreshing, the island is quiet, and the flowers are in full bloom. If you enjoy having the beach almost to yourself, this is your time!

June, July & August: The Sweet Spot 🍦
By June, the “swimming season” is in full swing with the water at 23°C (73°F). July and August are the peak, where the sea hits a delicious 25°C–26°C (77°F–79°F). At Aphrodite Skiathos, you can walk from your room straight into the warm blue—it’s like a giant, natural swimming pool! 🏊

September: The Late Summer Plateau 🌅
Don’t tell everyone, but September might be the best month of all. The air is slightly cooler, but the sea retains all that summer heat, staying around 24°C (75°F). It is calm, warm, and absolutely perfect for long swims.
